Melbourne School District students in kindergarten through the sixth grade began the 2016/2017 school year in a new 68,300 square feet elementary school, and on Friday, September 16th, the new school building was formally dedicated. The new school facility, designed by Modus Studio of Fayetteville, Arkansas, creates a modern learning environment for students and efficient work areas for teachers and staff. Included in the new Melbourne Elementary School is a media center with a separate reading room, fine arts and music spaces, and a 5,200 square feet physical education space with a stage for student presentations and performances. The C.R. Crawford team started construction in mid-May of 2015 and completed the project in time for the start of the new school year.
With a little help from our friends at Polk Stanley Wilcox Architects and Nielsen Architecture, we hosted the Northwest Arkansas branch of USGBC Arkansas for a hard hat tour of the Fields at Pinnacle. The Fields at Pinnacle, a Hatfield Properties development, is 41,000 square feet of upscale office space, designed to give occupants the best of both – close proximity to the dining and shopping experiences in the Pinnacle Hills area of Rogers and the experience of working in a sustainable office environment that will be second to none in Northwest Arkansas.
In early August, public school administrators from around the State met in Little Rock for the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators (AAEA) summer conference. This conference provides school administrators with the opportunity to share best practices and attend breakout sessions to learn of current trends in K-12 education. Executives from Tyson Foods, Green Forest Mayor Charles Reece, and other guests joined the C.R. Crawford project management team for a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of site construction for what will eventually be a $100 million Tyson Foods processing facility, located in Green Forest, Arkansas. The new facility will be adjacent to an existing Tyson Foods plant and will encompass approximately 200,000 square feet. Operations at the new facility, which is expected to be completed in late 2017, will result in 85 new jobs.
